According to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic to which VerAngola had access, as part of his working day, João Lourenço traveled by "train from the Bungo railway station (Baixa de Luanda) to the terminal at António Agostinho Neto International Airport, in Icolo and Bengo, on a route of approximately 45 kilometres", whose trip served the President of the Republic to see one of the resources that will be used by passengers.
"The objective was to get to know closely and in depth one of the resources to be used by passengers on the Luanda-Airport connection and vice versa, within the framework of the ongoing program to enable different accessibility with a view to the beginning, in the last quarter of this year, of passenger flights at the capital's new airport", the note reads.
In this way, João Lourenço had the opportunity to see the condition of the track, as well as to see the challenges related to railway circulation on the section.
Furthermore, at the time, he will also receive explanations about "what will need to be done in the near future to guarantee a safe operation".
João Lourenço's working day this Wednesday was also marked by another moment that was linked to the realization of the work aimed at building a highway aimed at alleviating the traffic that crosses Luanda and Viana.
Thus, it was on road 230 that he came into "contact with the progress of the work that will culminate in the construction of a highway (surrounding road) designed to ease the traffic that crosses Luanda and Viana".
This road, according to the note, will pass close to Zango 8000 and Hospital Bispo Emílio de Carvalho, "and should represent an alternative to circulation, with benefits for users of António Agostinho Neto International Airport".
More than 300 technicians in training to operate the airport
Speaking on the sidelines of the President of the Republic's visit, José Nóbrega, coordinator of the airport's operational office, informed that training is underway for more than 300 technicians who will ensure the operation of the passenger service.
"Effectively, we have two types of challenges, the first being the repairs of the last necessary works, before the start-up, but which do not affect the airport's operability", added the person in charge, quoted by Angop.
It is worth remembering that the inauguration of António Agostinho Neto International Airport took place on November 10th last year and was carried out by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, and currently it already receives cargo flights.
