Qualification for the Olympics came after the athlete from the Interclube sports group achieved the necessary score and stood out at the Abu Dhabi World Cup.

"The -66 kilogram judoka will represent the country, after obtaining the necessary points for this purpose and for his brilliant appearance at the Abu Dhabi World Cup", informed the National Police, in a statement to which VerAngola had access.

Edmilson Pedro, according to the statement, "is the first Angolan athlete to qualify for the Olympic Games, in this category, since the founding of judo in the country".

It should also be noted that the Angolan is a "great African reference" in the sport, "from the achievements achieved in the opens in Luanda, Yaoundé, Algeria and in internal competitions, after becoming two-time African champion".

The Olympic games will take place from July 26th to August 11th, in Paris. To this Olympic competition, the country will also take sports such as rowing, women's handball, among others.
