PCA of IGAPE reiterates privatization of Sonangol until 2026

The possibility of Sonangol's privatization process being completed this year was ruled out by Patrício Vilar, chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the Institute for State Asset Management and Participation (IGAPE), who reiterated that the company's privatization could end until 2026.

:

"It will not be, for sure, this year, but within the period of the second phase of the privatization program, which ends in 2026", said the official, who – in statements at the end of a visit to the flagship oil company, cited by Angop – , explained that Sonangol has a wide heritage in the world, thus justifying the fact that it is not possible to conclude the privatization process this year.

On the occasion, the official also made it known that one of the subjects followed by IGAPE in all institutions is related to the reservations exposed by the auditors, with Sonangol registering "a significant evolution" in relation to this matter, writes Angop.

Among other aspects, the PCA of IGAPE also mentioned that some recommendations were made to the company: "From the planning point of view, from the point of view of greater adherence to the planning reality so that afterwards the execution is not too far from the programmed, we leave also recommendations in terms of adapting the organizational structure and governance structure to the future public limited company", he said, quoted by the Public Television of Angola (TPA).

Sebastião Martins, Chief Executive Officer of Sonangol, considered the meeting as "very positive" as it enabled both entities to know the situation of the company. "This meeting was very positive because it allowed the two bodies, both Sonangol and IGAPE, to become aware and each of the parties to know what state the company is in and how IGAPE can increase the degree of monitoring of our activities and thus make relations between the two entities more and more positive", he said, also quoted by TPA.

As part of strengthening the monitoring of the operational activity of public entities, the visit aimed, according to Angop, to assess Sonangol's performance in recent years and also to present its goals for the near future.

It should be recalled that the Government decided to extend the Privatization Program (Propriv) for another three years, planning to privatize 73 assets and companies during this period.
