Argentina already has "two companies that invest in Angola" but wants to invest more

Argentina already has “two companies that have investments” in Angola, however it wants to reinforce investment and trade with the country. In this sense, the South American country starts this Thursday a business mission with 22 companies from different sectors to contact and establish partnerships with Angolans.

Ramiro Ordoqui, undersecretary for Multilateral and Bilateral Economic Negotiations of Argentina told Lusa that this is a "historic mission", with more than 22 businessmen from "strategic sectors" identified in the bilateral relationship, namely agriculture, food, energy, veterinary, pharmaceutical industry and services.

In Angola, two Argentine companies are already established: a biscuit production factory and a service company associated with the oil sector.

The Argentine official highlighted that this is one of the trade missions that aroused the most interest among Argentine businessmen, underlining that commercial exchanges reach around 200 million dollars per year on average, still below its potential.

"The investment is the finalization of a process. We have two companies that have investments here in Angola, but we have many others that carry out commercial transactions, they can start with imports and exports and then make the investments", he added.

The president of the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency of Angola (AIPEX), Lello Francisco, emphasized the importance of the mission with businessmen who work in sectors considered a priority for the Angolan government, which he considered an "expression of growing interest of Argentine businessmen in Angolan market".

He stressed that Argentina is the third largest economy in South America, with a dynamic business sector with a high degree of internationalization and which could play an important role in the economic diversification intended by the Angolan government.

However, the Argentine presence is "still not very expressive", he noted, stressing that it is also important for Angolan businessmen to establish strategic partnerships with other countries.
