Kwanza devalued more than 10 percent against the dollar in one week

This depreciation means that it takes 72 kwanzas more today to buy a dollar than last week.

Compared to the euro, the kwanza was even more penalized, sliding 13 percent compared to May 6, from 651 kwanzas/euro to 736 kwanzas/euros, according to the official exchange rate.

Since January 2023, the kwanza has accumulated a devaluation of almost 24 percent, according to Banco Fomento Angola (BFA).
