Public transportation in Huambo reinforced with ten more buses

The public transport operators in Huambo received, this Tuesday, a dozen of buses. According to Leonardo Sapalo, provincial deputy governor for the Social Sector and Infrastructures, this reinforcement will help to improve mobility in the region.

"The new buses will help improve the mobility of the population and boost the economy, as they will facilitate trade and the movement of people," he said at the handover ceremony.

Cited by Angolan newspaper Jornal de Angola, Leonardo Sapalo said that the Huambo/Tchinjenje, Huambo/Bailundo and Huambo/Cachiungo routes would be improved.

The provincial deputy governor for the Social Sector and Infrastructure explained that the reinforcement of these routes intends to "mitigate the difficulties of locomotion in these regions.

He also took the opportunity to inform that with the arrival of these new buses the fleet of the province now consists of 40 buses.

Joaquim Salinga, director of the Provincial Office of Transport, Traffic and Urban Mobility, explained that the operators that will benefit from these means have to pay a deposit.

The responsible, also cited by Jornal de Angola, explained that at the beginning the deposit of two million and 918 kwanzas, corresponding to 5 percent of the total value of the buses.

According to the director of the Provincial Office of Transport, Traffic and Urban Mobility, over a period of 10 years, the operators will pay for each bus about 58 million kwanzas.

The buses were delivered as part of the provincial government's program to strengthen the urban and inter-municipal fleets.
