INACOM explains in a press release that this type of attack, known as "touch and run", is an economic fraud, which aims to get users to answer international calls back in order to collect revenue.

It is, he adds, "a phenomenon that affects the mobile phone industry in several countries".

Since it became aware of the attack, INACOM has been working with the operators, notably Unitel, and has already taken measures to control the situation.

"INACOM reassures mobile network users that there is no risk of information or personal data theft, and calls on all users not to answer or return international calls to unknown numbers", the Institute stresses in the same statement.

Users have a toll free line (15 555) which they can use to obtain further clarification.
