Palanca TV handed over to the State for financial problems

The majority partner of Palanca TV voluntarily surrendered the station to the State, alleging financial problems to maintain the project and the payment of salaries, according to a source from the Attorney General's Office (PGR).

Cited by Jornal de Angola, PGR spokesman Álvaro João, who did not reveal the identity of the shareholder, added that he claimed that he no longer has alternative sources to keep the body running.

The press has identified Manuel Rabelais, former Minister of Social Communication and director of GRECIMA (Office for the Revitalization and Execution of Institutional Communication and Marketing in Administration) as the majority shareholder.

As part of the Publipress communication group, Palanca TV is a generalist channel, which started broadcasting on 16 December 2015.

Last year, the Attorney General's Office filed a charge against former minister Manuel Rabelais for crimes of embezzlement, breach of plan and budget execution rules, undue receipt of benefits and money laundering, as GRECIMA director, among 2016 and 2017.
