Russian Reshetnev chosen to develop Angosat-2 satellite

The Russian company Energia Space Rocket announced on Friday that the development of the telecommunications satellite Angosat-2 has been awarded to Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems, following the recommendation of the Angolan Government.

According to the Russian news agency TASS, which cites the report on the 2019 accounts, Energia Space Rocket announced that "during the work plan, the foreign client presented a requirement for the work to create and launch the Angosat satellite -2 was transferred to Reshetnev ".

According to the document cited by the Russian news agency, Reshetnev will also assume all the rights and obligations regarding the placement of the satellite in orbit, receiving also the funds allocated but still to be spent by Energia Space Rocket.

"The management of Energia Space Rocket also took note of the fact that the Group will additionally allocate 7.8 billion rubles [about US $ 100 million] to other expenses in 2020 as a result of this transfer of the contract", reads still in the financial statement.

The Angosat-1 telecommunications satellite was launched in December 2017, having been lost a day later, following its separation from the rocket that launched it into orbit, and there have been several attempts to resume contact with the satellite by mid-January. 2018, while staying in the area of ​​direct visibility from Russian territory.

The authorities then decided to launch Angosat-2 instead of continuing to try to resume contact with Angosat-1.
