In a statement, the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas (Mirempet), ANPG and Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Limited (Cabgoc) indicate “with great regret that a body was located today, 25, underwater, close to the BBLT platform, after intense search and rescue operations”.
The Benguela Belize Lobito Tomboco (BBLT) deepwater platform operated by Cabinda Golf Oil Company Limited (Cabgoc), a subsidiary of the US company Chevron, suffered an accident last Tuesday, which left 17 people injured, four of whom were in serious condition.
The statement did not specify whether this was the person who, according to Cabgoc, was missing following the fire that occurred when the BBLT facility was undergoing annual maintenance.
In this Sunday's statement, ANPG says it continues to work with the authorities “for the process of rescuing and identifying the body”.
On Saturday, ANPG announced the death of one of those injured in the accident on the BBLT platform.
