Recredit exceeds target and recovers 30 billion kwanzas in credits in 2023

Recredit recovered 30.96 billion kwanzas in credits in the last financial year, corresponding to 118 percent of the target, according to the company's financial statements published in Jornal de Angola.

The company created by the State in 2026 to manage bad credit in the national banking system had set a target of recovering 26.30 billion kwanzas in 2023, an amount approximately that of 2022.

In relation to the summary of the processes, the recovery balance of Recredit – Gestão de Ativos indicates that approximately 64 percent are in the active negotiation phase and 36 percent of the portfolio is in litigation or legal action.

The institution counts a total of 476 cases delivered, with an exposure value of 1.24 billion kwanzas, 327 processes negotiated, with an exposure value of 798 billion kwanzas and 149 processes in litigation, with an exposure value of 451 billion of kwanzas.

In 2023, Recredit, within the scope of its activity, acquired two credit portfolios from Banco de Poupança e Crédito (BPC), the largest national bank with public capital, with a total exposure value of 1.24 billion kwanzas.

This year, in the first quarter, society recovered the equivalent of 1.20 billion kwanzas, with the expectation of recovering 28.50 billion kwanzas by the end of December.

According to the 2023 activity report, the institution obtained a net profit of 48.9 billion kwanzas in 2023, 47 percent less than the 92.4 billion kwanzas than in the previous year.

The balance sheet also points to growth in assets and liabilities of 22.98 and 43.89 percent, respectively, compared to 2022.

Equity grew by 22.86 percent compared to 2022 and financial autonomy was 99.29 percent at the end of 2023.
