Spain and Angola want to increase marine cooperation in fisheries and oceanography

The Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, and the Angolan Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Carmen Evelize dos Santos, met this Monday in Madrid to analyze ways to increase marine cooperation in terms of fisheries and oceanography.

:

The two ministers met to discuss possible channels of collaboration in the field of fisheries, especially on issues related to oceanographic research on marine resources, the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food said in a statement.

Spain and Angola signed, in 2021, a memorandum of understanding on fishing and aquaculture cooperation, under which mutual actions are promoted to encourage the social, economic and technological development of fishing activity.

Angola's fishing grounds are of interest to Spain, which is why there is mutual collaboration to carry out oceanographic campaigns to gain greater knowledge of the area's fisheries resources and thus promote sustainable exploitation.
