Authorities seize nearly nine kilograms of cocaine at the airport

The authorities detained, at Luanda's international airport, two Angolans and a Tanzanian, in possession of almost nine kilograms of cocaine, the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) announced this Tuesday.

According to the SIC spokesperson, Manuel Halaiwa, the arrests and seizure of the drug occurred in two cases, one of them referring to a 43-year-old Tanzanian citizen, a passenger in transit, who was transporting 2,976 kilograms of cocaine from Brazil, which had final destination South Africa.

Speaking to Lusa news agency, Manuel Halaiwa said that in the case of Angolan citizens, aged 36 and 47, both were recipients of two suitcases from Brazil, with 5,965 kilograms of cocaine.

Following the arrest of these two Angolan citizens, the authorities arrested two more people allegedly related to this case.

"In this case, the arrests rose to four, because after an initial investigation of the two citizens detained at the airport, we managed to reach two more people, the principal still remains to be determined", said Manuel Halaiwa.
