Taxpayers owe 17.8 billion kwanzas to the mandatory social protection system

Taxpayers of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) owe 17.8 billion kwanzas to the mandatory social protection system, said the Secretary of State for Labor and Social Security.

:

Pedro Filipe, who was speaking during the fifth edition of the 'briefing' of the Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security (MAPTSS), reported that the INSS registered close to 2000 delinquent taxpayers in the first quarter of 2022.

The INSS currently has 215,409 contributors, a growth rate of 2.7 percent compared to the last quarter of 2021, it has a total of 2,167,687, against 2,130,287 in the last three months of 2021, and a total of 196,302 pensioners, an increase of 1.5 percent.

The Secretary of State also informed that social protection systems, namely employees, self-employed workers, clergy regime and religious denominations, domestic workers and workers in low-income generating activities had an increase in the INSS base.

According to the official, the General Labor Inspectorate (IGT) received 1593 requests for mediation of labor disputes in the first three months of 2022, 447 of which were resolved, namely 50 in favor of employers and the rest in favor of workers.

Mediations in favor of workers resulted in compensation worth 75.4 million kwanzas.

In this period, IGT recorded 256 work accidents, 118 fewer when compared to the same quarter of 2021.

For Pedro Filipe, the training of social security mediators, which began in the province of Benguela with the training of 30 participants, should contribute to the expansion of the insurance base.

The official also announced that proof of life for INSS pensioners will resume on May 9, and the process can be done digitally through the "+INSS" mobile application.

"Through this application we will avoid flooding at our branches and make life easier for pensioners, but of course, we are aware that not everyone has electronic means and these will continue to be attended in person at the branches", he pointed out.

The General Labor Law, whose draft law for its revision was already considered last week by the Council of Ministers for submission to the National Assembly, the new statute of the IGT, and the occupational qualifier, which has a presidential decree, were some of the topics of Pedro Filipe's intervention in Luanda.
