The salary adjustment of employees in the technical and non-technical careers of the general and special civil service regimes was also approved at the 5th meeting of the Council of Ministers.

Pedro José Filipe, Secretary of State for Labor and Social Security, quoted in a statement to which VerAngola had access, clarified that for the salary adjustment the criterion of positive differentiation was used: "It means that for the lowest salaries, we carry out a higher adjustment. And for higher wages, we make a more moderate adjustment".

With the new adjustment, the salary of a second-class cleaning assistant (the lowest category of the general civil service regime) will increase from the current 33,598 kwanzas to 67,807 kwanzas, exemplified the official, who underlined that there is "talking about an adjustment in the order of 102 percent".

As for the upper echelons – where doctors, university and general education professors are included – the measure establishes a six percent increase in the base salary.

"However, in addition to the adjustment made in relation to the basic salary, there was an effort here to make an adjustment in relation to the limit of subsidies, which passes to 60 percent. Therefore, there was an evolution here from 30 to 60 percent cent", he pointed out.

The Secretary of State also referred that an effort was also made to introduce a set of new subsidies for the categories of doctors and teachers in higher education and general education.

"We understand that this is in line with an exercise that has been carried out to dignify our workers, to increase their purchasing power and to facilitate the resolution of these employees' social problems", he clarified, quoted in the note.

Pedro José Filipe also informed that this is not an isolated effort, stressing that a process of adjustment of the categories of general regime employees is taking place, since there are employees who have been for more than a decade without progressing in their careers, even with the increase in academic level.

This adjustment will not cover members of the Executive, holders of management and leadership positions and magistrates.
