Angola received flight of oil industry workers from Mozambique

The Minister of Health, Silvia Lutucuta, confirmed on Saturday the arrival in Angola of a flight from Mozambique saying that it was a humanitarian flight that brought mainly workers from the oil industry.

Silvia Lutucuta who was speaking at a press conference in Luanda was questioned about a flight that arrived in Luanda on Thursday, bringing 48 Angolans, explaining that they are mostly workers in the oil industry who "are not stopped".

"We have flights that we consider humanitarian, in relation to the industry. They come [the workers], they are quarantined, they are tested and then they go offshore," the minister replied.

Silvia Lutucuta confirmed that on this flight some Angolans came who "for various reasons" were not able to continue in Mozambique, either because they were not residents or because they had finished their mission, and they are going to carry out institutional quarantine.

"The decree [concerning the state of emergency] is very clear and says that humanitarian flights, as long as their necessity is duly assessed, will be made," she stressed.

Angola closed all its borders on 20 March to try to contain the spread of covid-19, allowing only humanitarian flights.

Five new positive cases of infection with the new coronavirus were announced on Saturday, bringing the total number to 35.
