Selection will have to wait another year. Futsal World Cup postponed to 2021

The International Federation of Associated Football (FIFA) has decided to postpone the Futsal World Cup until next year because of the consequences of the covid-19 pandemic. Thus, the teams investigated, among which Angola, will have to wait another year to dispute the trophy.

:

The competition was scheduled to take place between 12 September and 4 October this year in Lithuania, but due to the covid-19 pandemic it was rescheduled. According to FIFA, the championship will take place on 13 September and 4 October 2021, also in Lithuania.

The Angolan team guaranteed its presence in the World Cup at the beginning of 2020, after beating Libya by two balls to zero, securing third place in the African Nations Championship (CAN) and clearance.

It should be noted that this will be the third time that Angola participates in this type of competition. The first time it was present in the championship was in 2008, in Libya, and the last time the country achieved world representation in this modality was in 2016, in the championship that took place in South Africa.

In addition to the postponement of the Futsal World Cup, FIFA has also postponed the U-17 Women's World Cup and the U-20 Women's World Cup to 2021. The 70th FIFA Congress, scheduled for June this year, was postponed until September 2020.
