The collaboration between the maternity hospital and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation began about a year ago and has been very important: in addition to the donation of this equipment, doctors and nurses from the Central Maternity Hospital in Luanda have received training in the area of neonatology - which studies and treats diseases of newborns.
"The Portuguese society of neonatology has joined the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to support the Maternidade Lucrécia Paím", said Maria Manuela.
The director of the maternity also revealed that three doctors and two nurses have been sent to Portugal to receive training: "We have a protocol that has already allowed us to send two nurses and we're preparing a mission of three doctors, who will remain in training at Santa Maria Hospital, in Portugal".
