Government postpones 36th FILDA edition to October

The 36th edition of the Luanda International Fair (FILDA), usually held in July, will take place between the 6th and 10th of October, in the Special Economic Zone (ZEE), due to the covid-19, said the organization of the exhibition.

In a note sent to the exhibitors, to which Lusa had access, FILDA organizers, the largest exhibition for companies in the Angolan and foreign economic sector, refer that the postponement aims to guarantee “the safety of exhibitors, partners, visitors and others involved and with the objective of enabling international participation ”.

FILDA, an international fair organized since the 1960s, will continue to be “the biggest economic event in the country”, despite the advances and setbacks it faces, said the organization of the event.

“More than a historical landmark, FILDA is a direct reflection of the evolution and business and socio-economic development of Angola, it is inseparable to speak of economic growth and business evolution, not to mention the contribution that FILDA has made since the 1960s Angola, with its dynamics and participation of all active agents of society ”, the note adds.

Portugal has always led the foreign participation in FILDA, even having a pavilion for companies to exhibit their products.

The last edition of FILDA, previously held in facilities around Luanda, in which 1000 companies were present, was attended by 22 countries and around 700 exhibitors.

The worsening, in 2016, of the economic crisis, which the country has faced since the end of 2014, led to the successive postponement of the 33rd edition of the fair, due to the reduced registration of exhibitors.
