These figures, according to the director of DTRS, chief superintendent Roque Silva, indicate a reduction of 131 deaths, 80 accidents and 71 injuries compared to the same period in 2019.
The official, quoted by Angop, said that, despite the reduced circulation of vehicles, there were several pedestrians being run over, due to crossing crosswalks and bridges and the speeding of motorists.
According to the official, 164 pedestrians were hit in the period in question.
The provinces with the highest number of accidents and deaths were Luanda, followed by Huambo, Benguela and Uíje.
In the country, road accidents are the second leading cause of death after malaria.
Angola fulfills the third extension of the State of emergency decreed last March 27, as a measure to prevent and combat covid-19, which has already killed two people in 45 positive cases in the country, of which 14 people recovered.
