Statistics reveal that, in the period under analysis, 5.5 million people, aged 15 or over, were unemployed, with an estimated unemployment rate of 30.4 percent, being higher for women (32.3 percent), compared to men (28.4 percent), representing a difference of 3.9 percentage points.

The analysis also shows that the unemployment rate was higher in urban areas (35.8 percent) than in rural areas (20.7 percent).

Comparative data on the unemployment rate for the last three months of 2024 with the same period in 2023 show that the unemployed population increased by 0.7 percent compared to the same quarter last year.

“The unemployment rate decreased by 1.4 percentage points, which corresponds to a variation of minus 4.5 percent [compared to the same period last year],” the data highlights.

The employed population, aged 15 or over, was estimated at 12.5 million people, of which 6.2 million were men and 6.3 million were women, with an estimated employment rate of 62.8 percent, higher in rural areas.
