Angola has surpassed 10,000 cases of cholera since the start of the outbreak

Angola has surpassed 10,000 cases of cholera this year, with a total of 386 deaths, and registered 119 new infections and three deaths in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health announced this Wednesday.

According to the Ministry of Health's statement, since the beginning of the year, 10,084 cases of cholera have been reported, of which 4494 were in the province of Luanda, the epicentre of the outbreak.

In addition to Luanda, the provinces of Bengo, Icolo and Bengo, Cuanza Norte, Benguela, Malanje, Cabinda, Namibe, Huambo, Zaire, Cuanza Sul, Uíge, Huíla, Cubango, Bié, Cunene and Lunda Sul are affected, with four provinces being free from the outbreak.

Since January, 386 deaths have been recorded, mainly in Luanda and Bengo, with 164 and 105 respectively.

In the last 24 hours, three deaths were recorded, in Luanda, Cuanza Norte and Icolo e Bengo, and 102 people were discharged, while 406 others are hospitalized.
