This first case in Namibe concerns a 65-year-old citizen, who did not travel or have contact with people from provinces affected by cholera.

"The rapid test was carried out and the case of cholera was confirmed, meaning that the province of Namibe is now on the red map of provinces with recorded cases of cholera. This is a 65-year-old citizen, and the case that challenges the technical committee is that there is no recognised or identified epidemiological link", said the director of the provincial health office, Coríntios Miguel, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).

In national terms, according to the Ministry of Health information to which VerAngola had access, in the last 24 hours, the country registered 189 new cases of cholera and seven deaths.
