CCA Americans ready to finance Lobito corridor and invest in agriculture and mining

The Lobito Corridor continues to attract the attention of American financial institutions. This is the case of the Corporate Council of Africa (CCA), whose executive committee president, Florizelle Liser, has indicated that the group is interested in financing this railway infrastructure, as well as Angola's agricultural and mining sectors.

:

Speaking after a bilateral meeting with the Angolan delegation at the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) meetings – which are taking place in Washington, United States of America, until the 26th of this month –, the official revealed that the group wants to start financially supporting initiatives related to essential minerals, through the Lobito Corridor. Quoted by Angop, she also said that the company also wants to make a general investment in the mining and agricultural sectors, with emphasis on the production of chicken meat.

On the occasion, she also highlighted that the group has been attentive to Angola's efforts in seeking resources to finance the Lobito Corridor project.

Regarding the meeting – which was attended by the Minister of Finance, Vera Daves, and the Minister of Transport, Ricardo D'Abreu –, Florizelle Liser stated that it allowed for the collection of relevant data that reinforce the group's willingness to maintain dialogue with a view to achieving its objectives, as well as identifying investment opportunities.

Although she did not reveal details about the amount planned to be invested in Angola, the official stressed that the CCA will have an important role in financing the Lobito Corridor, and should continue working with the Angolan authorities, with the aim of starting operations as soon as possible, writes Angop.

It is worth remembering that an Angolan delegation, headed by Vera Daves, has been participating in the spring meetings of the World Bank and the IMF since April 21.

In addition to the Finance Minister, the Minister of Transport, Ricardo Viegas d'Abreu, the Secretary of State for Planning, Luís Epalanga, the President of the Sovereign Fund, Armando Manuel, as well as senior officials and technicians from the two ministerial departments and the National Bank of Angola, are also part of the national delegation.

The meetings are taking place in the USA, more specifically in Washington, and will continue until next Saturday.
