The coordinator of the technical group of the interministerial commission for the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the country's independence, Teresa Quivienguele, said, this Wednesday, that the public competitions, launched at the end of March and running until the 30th of this month, foresee the awarding of a prize of 30 million kwanzas for the best song and 25 million kwanzas for the best logo.

The Secretary of State for Territorial Administration stated that the competition for the music for the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of national independence aims to contribute to its sound identity and popular mass.

As for the logo, proposals must be composed of geometric figures of fauna or flora, southern terrestrial or maritime elements, appropriate to the anniversary, include the number 50, incorporate the colors of the national flag, present semiotic elements that represent the historical evolution of Angola and building a future of prosperity.

Teresa Quivienguele said that the celebrations will highlight the main achievements achieved over the 50 years, highlighting national sovereignty, freedom and control of Angolan territory, as well as the consolidation of the democratic state and the rule of law.

The celebrations, she said, also aim to promote patriotism, highlight the pride of being Angolan, promote knowledge and understanding of Angolan history, promote national culture and promote tourism.

Reflecting on the challenges faced in achieving independence and building a better future, through the promotion of participatory governance, are other objectives highlighted.

The official said that the festivities will be based on three chronological moments: the first, focusing on the fight against Portuguese colonial domination and for national independence, the second, the achievement of peace, in 2002, and the safeguarding of territorial integrity, and the third , national reconciliation and the construction of the pillars of the country's development.

Angola gained its independence on November 11, 1975.
