In a press release, Sodiam indicates that 20 special stones from rough diamond production, from the mining companies of Lulo, Somiluana, Chitotolo, Uari and Kaixepa, were auctioned on Friday.

The total net value raised from the bidding was around 17 million dollars, with the sale of all the stones, which totaled 636.28 carats, with the largest amount collected by Sociedade Mineira do Lulo (10.5 million dollars), followed by the Sociedade Mineira do Kaixepa (3.6 million dollars), the Sociedade Mineira do Somiluana (1.4 million dollars), the Sociedade Mineira do Chitotolo (778 thousand dollars) and the Sociedade Mineira do Uari (614 thousand dollars).

The evaluation sessions for the special stones took place between the 11th and 18th of this month, at Sodiam's facilities, in Luanda, with bids being submitted electronically until 10am on Friday.

The ninth auction held by Sodiam had the participation of 29 companies, representing the main diamond markets and centers in the world.

For the chairman of Sodiam's board of directors, Eugénio Bravo da Rosa, mentioned in the note, this auction made it possible to gauge the sentiment of the market and the global diamond industry, at a time when actors are struggling with certain endogenous and exogenous factors, which still convey some insecurity.

"However, the results of this ninth auction, which is the first in 2024, were favorable, which left the participating mining companies satisfied and reinforces the potential for attracting new customers and potential foreign investors, aiming to strengthen the national diamond industry for the benefit of the Angolan economy", said Eugénio Bravo da Rosa.
