New measures in Luanda: driving without fire extinguisher, reflective vest and triangle gives fine

As of this Monday, in Luanda, motorists who circulate without a fire extinguisher, reflective vest and triangle, among other means of road safety, will be subject to a fine.

The head of the Department of Traffic and Road Safety of the Provincial Command of Luanda said that the measure aims to contain the increase in fires in vehicles that has been recorded in recent times, "because drivers circulate with fire extinguishers", says a statement from the GPL. to which VerAngola had access.

Speaking to Rádio Nacional de Angola, Simão Saúlo explained that this phase follows the other one, of raising awareness, which took place during a month, which aimed to remind motorists to prepare for this moment, which will now be coercive.

This measure is a consequence of the National Road Safety and Prevention Strategy, approved by the Executive in 2018, a document that defines a set of actions that must be carried out by 2022.

The objective is to reduce the mortality rate resulting from road accidents that have occurred throughout the country and to harmonize the National Traffic System with the recommendations of the United Nations, the World Health Organization and the Southern African Development Community.
