Government has built more than 39,000 houses in recent years

The Government has built, in recent years, a total of 39,259 houses in 12 centralities and two urbanizations, informed Manuel Tavares de Almeida, Minister of Public Works and Territorial Planning.

Speaking this Tuesday at the 4th edition of 'CaféCIPRA' - which had as its central theme "The construction of large infrastructures" -, the official also indicated that in addition to the 39,259 residences, the Executive also built 5,015 social houses for population resettlement effects.

According to a statement made available on the Government's Facebook, the policies outlined by the Executive "to put an end to the demand for housing" also include the availability of lots for self-directed construction.

In this sense, the minister made it known that 887 infrastructure lots and 1,608 lots for guided self-construction have already been assigned.

Cited in the government note, the holder of the Public Works and Territorial Planning portfolio explained that access to houses takes place through a public tender or by payment through various modalities, including resolvable rent.

He also took the opportunity to inform that works are underway in the centralities of Bengo, Cuito, Cabinda, Cazengo, Tucuve, Ekuma, Bailundo, Saurimo, Carreira de Tiro and Luena, as well as social services in Cabinda and Luanda.

In the field of road infrastructure, the results achieved with the "rehabilitation and conservation of roads, construction of bridges, and with the implementation of the Road Salvation Programme, which has 24 projects covering a total of 1780 kilometers".

So far, 1649 kilometers of roads have been rehabilitated, 144 kilometers of public roads network, 1553 kilometers of roads have been preserved, 3799 linear meters of definitive bridges have been completed and 809 linear meters of metal bridges installed, according to Manuel Tavares de Almeida.

The statement said that the construction and completion of bridges included four provinces: Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul, Benguela and Zaire.

In addition, 213 hectares of ravine areas were stabilized in the provinces of Bié, Cabinda, Cuando Cubango, Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul, Malanje, Moxico, Uíge and Zaire.

In addition to the Minister of Public Works and Territorial Planning, the Minister of Finance, Vera Daves, and the Minister of Territorial Administration, Marcy Lopes, were also present at the event.
