According to the press release to which Lusa had access, the accident occurred on Saturday, between the stations of Caculuvar and Poiares, about 30 kilometers from Lubango.
The situation prevented the passage of the passenger train from Menongue, Cuando Cubango province, which was bound for Huila.
The accident also damaged sleepers, however, another train was moved from Lubango to the site, in order for passengers to continue their journey.
The Board of Directors of Moçâmedes Railway has ordered the opening of an investigation to determine responsibility.
Since early Monday morning, normality has been restored on the track, with a train carrying passengers from Lubango to Menongue, the same source added.
