The announcement was made by João Lourenço during talks held after a private meeting he had with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, on a visit to the Portuguese-speaking African country.

The head of state also announced works for the conclusion of Angola's accession process to the Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union (EU).

According to João Lourenço, under the National Indicative Program of the 11th European Development Fund eight programs have been implemented in Angola, with a budget of 132 million euros, stressing that the European Investment Bank has supported public investment projects in the sectors of energy and water, telecommunications and others.

The President said that the country is now seriously committed to the diversification of the economy, with a strong focus on the private sector, through the creation of a better business environment, which attracts national and foreign private investors and stimulates them to invest in agriculture and fishing, industry, hotels and tourism, construction materials, production of fertilizers and fertilizers, and in all other branches of their interest.

João Lourenço referred that the State is holding public tenders for the management and exploration of port terminals, railways, as well as alienating, through privatization public tenders, a considerable range of assets in favor of private parties.

"All these measures come simultaneously with a vast campaign to fight corruption and impunity," he stressed.

For his part, Charles Michel said he addressed matters of common interest with the President, expressing a desire to continue working together on various issues.

"We appreciate Angola's positive engagement to guide the most consensual and trustworthy solutions in places where there are difficulties and for us to lower tensions in order to find stability and I also appreciate the summit that Angola convened here on April 20, taking into account the situation in CAR [Central African Republic]," he said.

Charles Michel, who leaves Luanda later this Friday, said that the theme of the fight against terrorism and extremism in the world was also addressed, recalling the high number of victims due to this phenomenon.

"And this leads all of us, EU and our international partners, to work on this concern, let's see the case of the situation in Mozambique, we have to work in order to push back this crisis in that country," he said.
