Covid-19 makes 382 more deaths in Africa in the last hours

Africa has recorded an additional 382 deaths associated with covid-19 in the past 24 hours, now totaling 120,802 fatalities since the start of the pandemic, according to the latest official data on the continent.

According to the African Union's Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), the total number of infected people in the organization's 55 member states is now 4,524,702, following a downward review of cases (4,546,235 on Tuesday). fair).

In the last 24 hours, 10,849 recovered, totaling 4,067,871 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Southern Africa remains the most affected region, with 1,962,772 infected and 61,922 dead associated with contagion with the disease. In this region, South Africa, the country hardest hit by the covid-19 on the continent, records 1,577,200 cases and 54,237 deaths.

North Africa is the second most affected area, with 1,354,552 infected and 39,339 fatalities.

East Africa accounts for 596,959 infections and 11,074 deaths, while in West Africa the number of infections is 456,594 and that of deaths is 6024. In Central Africa, there are 153,825 cases of infection and 2,438 registered deaths.

Egypt, which is the second African country with the most fatalities, after South Africa, has 13,168 deaths and 224,517 infected, followed by Tunisia, with 10,444 deaths and 303,584 cases of infection. Morocco accounts for 509,972 cases of infection and 9005 deaths associated with covid-19.

Among the countries most affected are Ethiopia, with 3605 fatalities and 254,044 infections, and Algeria, with 3225 dead and 121,344 infected.

In relation to Portuguese-speaking countries, Mozambique recorded 814 deaths and 69,762 cases, followed by Angola (587 deaths and 25,942 cases of infection), Cape Verde (211 deaths and 22,772 cases), Equatorial Guinea (107 deaths and 7559 cases) , Guinea-Bissau (67 dead and 3731 cases) and São Tomé and Príncipe (35 killed and 2292 cases).
