According to the accounting of the companies, the number of Portuguese who returned is about 6000, already after the conditioning of the airspace.

A source from TAP Air Portugal informed Lusa that the airline has already carried out 14 flights to take the Portuguese who were stranded in Portuguese-speaking African countries back home.

In all, "more than 4000 places were made available so that the Portuguese who were in Luanda, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau and S. Tomé and Príncipe could return to Portugal", according to the same source.

The flights carried humanitarian and commercial cargo to Africa.

TAP also operated a charter flight that brought 298 passengers from Peru who were stranded in Peru.

The company guarantees that it is “prepared to make more flights, always dependent on the necessary government authorizations”.

To China, the carrier carried out four flights to bring “fundamental equipment to the front line of combating the pandemic, such as fans, tests, masks and other personal protective equipment”.

For its part, Hi Fly has already transported 1300 Portuguese who were in Angola and more than 2500 returnees in the rest of the world.

The company also transported more than 150 tons of essential medical supplies to combat covid-19 in Portugal, such as personal protective equipment, ventilators and diagnostic tests.

To the rest of Europe and the United States, Hi Fly transported more than 250 tons of this material.

The carrier estimates that humanitarian cargo and repatriation flights will continue until the end of May.

For its part, euroAtlantic repatriated 1,110 Portuguese who were in countries of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).

Some of these flights took humanitarian cargo to destinations.
