Covid-19: Increase in suspicious citizens forces reopening of Calumbo quarantine centers

Located in Luanda, the two Calumbo quarantine centers were reopened following an increase in suspected cases of contraction of the new coronavirus in the country.

The information was confirmed this Thursday at the end of the afternoon by the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, at the usual press conference that takes stock of the daily impact of the pandemic in the country.

The official said that the centers have reopened and have already received suspicious people, and they will also be used for the management of eventual positive cases.

At the moment, there are 691 citizens to comply with institutional quarantine throughout the territory. In the last 24 hours, 239 people completed the quarantine period and were able to leave the premises where they were being watched. Of these, 32 are known to be linked to oil companies.

Cited by Angop, the secretary of state also said that a total of 938 people maintained direct and occasional contact with positive cases, which were being followed and investigated. It is known that 183 citizens directly contacted the Cuban computer technician who tested positive for covid-19 this Wednesday. These cases will also be followed up.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in March, Angola has tested a total of 1918 samples, and 329 analyzes are currently being processed.

The country has a total of 25 positive cases of covid-19, which led to two deaths, with six recovered patients. Currently, 17 active cases are being monitored under medical supervision.
