According to the announcement made by the Minister of State and Head of the Security House of the President of the Republic, Pedro Sebastião, the country will receive doctors from various specialties: Intensive Care, Pneumology, Public Health, Virology and Infectiology.
The cooperation between Angola and Cuba had already been announced by the Minister of Health, Silvia Lucutuca, about two weeks ago. The aim of this partnership is to strengthen our country's level of response to covid-19, explained Pedro Sebastião, quoted by Angop, adding that Cuban clinicians will help improve the country's medical assistance, preventing and controlling the evolution of the new coronavirus in Angola.
The health authorities had also informed that, in addition to the support of these clinicians, the government maintains diplomatic contact, via videoconferences, with China, Brazil and other countries experienced in combating, preventing and treating the disease.
Also this Wednesday, the minister explained why she had resorted to the civil requisition of health professionals already retired. Silvia Lucutuca stressed that the number of professionals in work is not sufficient to respond to the situation the country is facing, so she appealed to the civil requisition so that health units and quarantine and treatment centres can be strengthened.
