According to a government statement, to which VerAngola had access, this project will benefit around 1300 inhabitants.

"This housing project, the first built in the province of Lunda Sul, was developed as part of the celebrations of 50 years of independence and will benefit approximately 1272 inhabitants", reads the note.

This first phase, says the note, includes 212 apartments, "commercial establishments, a drinking water treatment plant, a wastewater treatment plant, an electrical station and various social facilities".

"To acquire the residences, interested parties must register in compliance with the requirements established in Presidential Decree No. 278/20, on the rules for access to housing built with public resources", says the government note.

In statements at the ceremony, cited by Angop, the minister – who symbolically handed over the keys to the provincial governor so that the competition for young people and civil servants can be launched in the coming days – considered that this act demonstrates the Government's commitment to positively addressing the reduction of the housing deficit.

Addressing future beneficiaries, he appealed to them to comply with the obligations of the contract, paying the rent, to allow the Government to be able to build more housing, focusing on public servants, young people, people with disabilities, among others, as well as warning about the importance of conserving the space.

On that occasion, he also mentioned the Directed Self-Construction Program, another initiative that aims to combat the housing deficit, since, according to the minister, it is not through centralities or urbanizations that this problem will be solved.

According to the government note, in addition to the minister and the provincial governor, the inauguration ceremony was also attended by the "Secretary of State for Territorial Administration, Teresa Luís Quinvienguele, vice-governors, national directors, municipal administrators, parliamentarians, the archbishop of Lunda Sul, Dom José Manuel Imbamba, descendants of General Txizainga and other entities".

Also on Saturday, according to a statement from the Ministry of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, to which VerAngola had access, the "act of consignment of the construction contract for the second phase of the General Txizainga centrality" also took place.

Carlos Alberto dos Santos witnessed the signing of the documents between the ministry and the company Griner "in the category of contractor and, at the same time, laid the first stone, flanked by the governor of the province of Lunda Sul, Daniel Félix Neto".

This second phase will be built on an area of 80.8 hectares and will include 1400 homes, "to serve 8400 inhabitants, 32 single-family homes, 288 semi-detached homes, 1080 apartments, as well as external infrastructures such as the drainage network, electricity network, vertical and horizontal signage, ETA and ETAR, as well as other social facilities, such as a primary school, 2 secondary schools, health center, police station, administrative building and others".
