Cholera has killed more than 200 people since January

More than 200 people have died from cholera in the country since last January, out of a total of 5749 registered cases, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

According to the epidemiological bulletin, released on Sunday night, Angola has already recorded a total of 204 deaths since the beginning of the disease and 97 new cases, making a cumulative total of 5749 cases, with the province of Luanda leading the occurrences with 2963 cases.

After Luanda, the epicentre of the outbreak, the province of Bengo has a total of 2004 cases, Icolo and Bengo (642), Malanje (68), Cuanza Sul (29), Uíge (10), Huambo (10), Huíla (7), Cabinda (7), Zaire (5), Cuanza Norte (2), Cunene and Cubango with one case respectively.

The capital also leads with the number of deaths, a total of 105, followed by Bengo (74), Icolo and Bengo (19), Malanje (03), Cuanza Sul two and Cabinda with one death.

According to the same source, 145 people with cholera are hospitalized.
