The Ministry of Health, in data released on Thursday night, reported the registration of four deaths in 24 hours, all in the province of Luanda, the epicentre of the disease, and 127 new cases of cholera, of which 72 were in Luanda, 35 in Bengo, 11 in Icolo e Bengo and nine in Malanje.
The province of Cubango has now added one case to the list of affected provinces, which also includes Luanda (2,772), Bengo (1,961), Icolo e Bengo (611), Malanje (53), Cuanza Sul (29), Huambo (9), Huíla (7), Cabinda (6), Uíje (6), Zaire (5), Cuanza Norte (2) and Cunene (1).
Regarding deaths, Luanda has recorded 100 deaths from cholera in the outbreak declared on 7 January, an infectious disease associated with poor hygiene conditions, poor sanitation and poor water quality.
According to the same source, 196 patients were hospitalised and 113 people were discharged in the 24 hours prior to the figures released on Thursday night.
