Lulo yields another 203 carats. Lucapa announces discovery of new diamond

A 203-carat diamond is the most recent discovery at the Lulo mine, located in the province of Lunda Norte. According to the announcement by the Lucapa Diamond Company, this is the fifth largest diamond to be recovered in that mine and the third with more than 100 carats recovered this year.

In a statement, to which VerAngola had access, the company states that the most recent discovery concerns a type IIa diamond.

"Lucapa Diamond Company Limited and its partners from the Lulo alluvial mine, Endiama and Rosas & Petalas, are pleased to announce the recovery of a 203-carat type IIa diamond from the operations", the note reads.

According to the company, this is the fifth largest diamond to be discovered in Lulo. "The diamond is the fifth largest and the 43rd diamond weighing more than 100 carats to be recovered in Lulo's alluvial operations since mining began", points out the note.

Lucapa also says this is the third diamond weighing more than 100 carats recovered this year.

"The 203 carat type IIa diamond was recovered during the processing of stored raw ore and its recovery follows that of the 162 and 116 carat diamonds on successive days in February 2024", the company further informs.
