According to a note from the Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access, the meeting served to address aspects related to bilateral relations, as well as issues linked to the Lobito Corridor.

Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, Tulinabo Mushingi highlighted that the aforementioned hearing took place "as part of periodic exchanges" with the Government, having discussed "areas of relationship between the US and Angola".

According to the diplomat, this relationship "is growing every day" and, therefore, he wanted to discuss with the President "to give a report" on what they are doing.

Regarding the growth of the bilateral relationship, he focused on the pillars of engagement and prosperity. "I wanted to focus on the side of our engagement pillar, the prosperity pillar, shared prosperity for how we, both countries, can continue to increase prosperity for the Angolan people and the American people," he said.

"In this sense, I am focusing our efforts, the embassy's efforts on commercial diplomacy, trying to attract private investment here, private American companies that can come and invest here," said Tulinabo Mushingi.

Thus, as an example, he mentioned the Lobito Corridor, in which the "first phase is between Lobito and Luau, on the border of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)", involving financing of around "250 million dollars, financed by the Development Finance Corporation".

The diplomat also made it known that, in this sense, they are also working with Grupo Carrinho because in the Lobito Corridor area there is not only the railway, but also the "development of the corridor area", adding that they are try to see if they can join the agriculture sector.

Tulinabo Mushingi also highlighted the fact that they are engaged in the construction and rehabilitation of metal bridges. In this field, they plan to "rehabilitate and build 186 metal bridges, in an investment from Exim Bank, which is already working with Sun África".

The US ambassador also recalled the recent visit to Angola of a delegation from the US Ministry of Agriculture. "Two weeks ago we had a delegation from our Ministry of Agriculture here (...), which was here with more or less 20 American businessmen (...), and they managed to sign contracts worth 18 million dollars", he pointed out.

According to Angop, the diplomat also said that, on March 28, a delegation from the Senate, made up of eight senators, will travel to Angola.

Among other aspects, the situation in eastern DRC was also addressed at the hearing.
