"It is a strategic hospital, which will have medical-surgical capabilities to provide reference assistance to the province of Cuanza-Norte and neighboring municipalities", said the minister, quoted in a statement from the Government of the Province of Cuanza Norte, to which VerAngola had access.
On the occasion, the head of Health made it known that "one of the main objectives of the visit" to Cuanza Norte was to verify the level of execution of the works at the aforementioned hospital, "which could be opened this year".
Sílvia Lutucuta also recognized the need to hold more public competitions with a view to strengthening the "professional framework in the health sector". However, adds the statement, she considered the "training of human capital, the great challenge for now", adding that the province will benefit from "scholarships for specialized training of nurses".
"The big challenge is still training staff", said the minister, adding: "The specialized training internship for licensed nurses will soon begin and within the scope of cooperation with Brazil, the province of Cuanza Norte was also one of the awarded places for scholarships in an ambitious program led by the Ministry of Health that is being financed by the World Bank".
The minister's trip to Cuanza Norte was based on a "vast program of working visits on matters linked" to the health sector. In the province, Sílvia Lutucuta was received by the provincial governor, João Diogo Gaspar, who accompanied her during her journey.
This Thursday, "the ministerial delegation and members of the local government participated in a meeting to present the epidemiological situation in the province, as well as carrying out inspection visits to the construction work of the General Hospital, and to the Sanatorium and Maternal and Child hospitals ", reads the statement.
