The holder of the portfolio of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland said that the aforementioned monuments – which will be considered a national historical-military collection – will be built in Ntó (province of Cabinda), Ebo (province of Cuanza Sul), Cahama (Cunene province), Dala (Lunda Sul province) and in Cangamba and Samunjimo (both in Moxico province), writes Angop.

Speaking at the central event of the 36th anniversary of the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale and the 6th anniversary of the Liberation Day of Southern Africa, which took place last Saturday, in Cuito Cuanavale (Cuando Cubango), João Ernesto dos Santos 'Liberdade' reported that the ministry is carrying out a survey of monuments, memorials and places with military-historical interest in order to honor the memory of former combatants.

On the occasion, he also spoke about the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale. Quoted in a statement from the Provincial Government of Cuando Cubango, to which VerAngola had access, the minister "highlighted the heroic action of the brave FAPLAS fighters who broke the myth of the invincibility of South African soldiers, a fact that allowed the release of Nelson Mandela and the end of Aparthaid, having entered the annals of history, appealing to those present, on the need to continue paying tribute to the combatants, remembering how harmful it was and the amount of damage caused to the region".

He also left the guarantee that there are projects to provide support to ex-combatants and veterans of the country, "in recognition of the great service provided, in favor of the Nation".

It should be noted that several young people from all provinces of the country were invited to that province to learn about the historical path and impact of the battle, through conferences held on the 21st and 22nd of March.

On behalf of the students from the 18 provinces of the country, young Castro Miguel, from the province of Bengo, spoke, expressing gratitude "for the gesture of having invited the youth", adding that "for this reason, they are committed to preserving of the legacy of the 23rd of March, as the three days represented a great learning scenario, through speakers who knew how to use teaching methods and techniques to transmit knowledge, equally thanking the provincial governor José Martins and the municipal administration for reception, suggesting that the history of the battle of Cuito Cuanavale be written to better preserve the legacy", the statement also reads.
