"Therefore, I want to reassure you about the implementation, at any time, of this measure, as soon as the proposal is approved by the Holder of Executive Power", said the holder of the portfolio of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland.

João Ernesto dos Santos 'Liberdade', who did not advance the conjectured rate of the next pension, said that this aim is part of the plan to improve the living conditions of those assisted, as well as their dependents, as a way of recognizing the commitment they made when of the country's liberation struggle, writes Angop.

With the current pension standing at 23 thousand kwanzas, the purpose of increasing the pension was advanced in 2023 in the debate on the General State Budget for the current year, in an initiative of the Ministry of Defense together with the Ministry of Finance.

According to the minister, initially the guardianship database contained around 162 thousand employees, but, with the completion of the re-registration process last year, around 68 thousand pensioners were confirmed in the system who met the requirements and remain beneficiaries.

Among other aspects, the minister also guaranteed the continuity of the process of attributing identification cards to pensioners, which will benefit this class.

It should be noted that João Ernesto dos Santos 'Liberdade' held a consultation meeting, this Thursday, with ex-combatants and veterans from the homeland of Bié, as part of the central act of the celebrations of the Day of the Expansion of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation, marked this Friday (March 15). According to Angop, those present took advantage of the opportunity to express their concerns, with emphasis on greater access to housing projects, public transport, etc., to which the minister assured that the Government's attention is focused on these issues and guaranteed continuity work to gradually resolve problems.

The minister has been in Bié since this Thursday for a two-day working day, as part of the 15th of March celebrations.
