According to a statement from the Ministry of the Interior, to which VerAngola had access, the card delivery ceremony took place at the FAA Social Security Institute.
"Several figures from Angolan society who stood out in the various struggles of the Angolan people, with emphasis on national liberation and the achievement of effective peace, received, at mid-morning this Friday, February 2, 2024, in the Institute's Auditorium of Social Security of the FAA, (...), the respective Former Combatant Identification Cards, on an initiative of the President of the Republic", reads the note.
The guardianship also informs that, at the ceremony, several nationalists were honored, highlighting the current holder of the Interior portfolio, Eugénio Laborinho. "Names of nationalists were considered who, among other sectors, contributed to the country's public security, such as Roberto Leal Monteiro "Ngongo", former Minister of the Interior, Eugénio César Laborinho, current Minister of the Interior, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos and José Alfredo Ekukui, both former general commanders of the National Police", the note reads.
