Angola was the fifth largest exporter to the US in 2021

Among the 36 African countries that benefit from preferential trade conditions under the Growth and Opportunities Law, Angola was the fifth largest exporter to the United States of America (USA) last year.

US imports of African products under the Growth and Opportunities Act rose 59 percent last year, growing from 4.2 billion dollars in 2020 to 6.7 billion dollars in 2021.

According to the financial information agency Bloomberg, the volume of sales from Africa to the United States of America under this law, known by the acronym AGOA, grew from US$4.2 billion to US$6.7 billion. last year, recovering from the fall caused by the confinement measures to combat the covid-19 pandemic.

Oil shipments more than doubled between 2020 and 2021, from US$703 million to 1.9 billion dollars, while non-oil trade rose 41 percent, from 3.4 billion dollars to 4.8 billion dollars.

Among the 36 African countries that benefit from preferential trade conditions under this law, Angola was the fifth largest exporter to the United States of America, after South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana.
