According to the Provincial Government of Luanda (GPL), in a note made available on her Facebook, the governor of Luanda noted the progress of the contract at the Mercado dos Correios, having found that it is "in a very advanced state of execution".

"This new improved market will have, this time, a fence wall, which will delimit its entire perimeter, a green area, a parking lot for vehicles and a police station, which will guarantee a new, healthier way of being, all its users", can be read in the note.

Fernando Cardoso, municipal administrator of Kilamba Kiaxi, who accompanied Ana Paula de Carvalho on the visit, assured that "all traders in this market have been registered, so that, when the modernization works are completed, they will be the first to be reinstated".

According to the statement, "with this expansion, the Mercado dos Correios will certainly absorb other merchants who still use the streets as a place of business".

It should be noted that four large popular markets in the capital, specifically those of Congoleses, Correios, Kikolo and São Paulo, will have "a new face in the near future, due to the expansion and modernization works that are being targeted".

In another note, the GPL added that the works in the Correios, Kikolo and Congolenses markets "are already underway". In the São Paulo Market, "work will start soon, after the recent conclusion of the respective executive project".

According to the note, this requalification aims not only to expand markets, but also "provide greater convenience to users, both sellers and customers".

"In the words of the vice provincial governor for Technical and Infrastructure Services, Cristino Ndeitunga, the Government recognizes the preponderant role of markets, which are important sources of income for many families, so no seller will be removed", the note indicates.

The official also made it known that the sellers "were registered so that, when the works are finished, they can return to their posts without any problems".

While the works are in progress, "sellers who have to temporarily leave their workplaces will be distributed to other markets, which have already been determined".
