The note, released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, makes the assessment based on the announcement that the head of diplomacy, Tete António, received this Thursday, in Luanda, the "Figured Letters" from the new Portuguese ambassador, Francisco Alegre Duarte.

"His Excellency Ambassador Francisco Alegre Duarte is a career diplomat with extensive experience in political advice, trade and development and security issues", highlights the press release, which adds that the Portuguese diplomat has already represented Portugal in East Timor, New York (with the United Nations) and in Angola from 2009 to 2012.

Francisco Alegre Duarte was deputy head of mission at the Portuguese embassy in Rome, director for European Bilateral Relations, deputy director-general for Foreign Policy and diplomatic adviser to Prime Minister António Costa.

Francisco Alegre Duarte arrived in Luanda on the 1st and, in a message shared on the website of the Portuguese Embassy in Angola, the diplomat, who replaces Pedro Pessoa e Costa in the post, declares that he will work to deepen the "special relationship between two countries and friendly peoples" which is reflected in a cooperation that extends to all areas of government action - from political-diplomatic dialogue to health, education, justice, mobility, security and defense, among others.

"The dense economic interconnection that unites us - and which is structuring for both parties - results from deep empathy in human, affective, linguistic and cultural terms", underlines the diplomat in the message.
