Grupo Carrinho and África Têxtil will cooperate to encourage cotton production and reduce imports

Grupo Carrinho and África Têxtil signed a partnership to encourage cotton production and reduce imports.

:

As part of the cooperation – signed between the general director of Africa Textile, Laurence Vlatter, and the vice-chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo Carrinho, Rui Carrinho –, one company will encourage the production of cotton and the other will receive the quantities produced as well as sustaining the industry.

According to TPA, Grupo Carrinho will encourage production in the provinces of Benguela, Cuanza Sul and Malanje.

"Our vision is, through the studies that Carrinho's agricultural technicians are doing, in order to be able to identify both producers and areas with ideal conditions for this type of production", said, in statements to TPA, a responsible for Grupo Carrinho.

On the other hand, this cooperation will allow Textile Africa to reduce imports of this raw material.

"We are going to remove the seed to make a product", considered the person in charge of Textile Africa.

According to TPA, the factory has cotton from Brazil and South Africa, and is waiting for 12 trucks from Zimbabwe, with around 800,000 kilograms of this raw material.

Each month, the factory consumes around 1.5 million kilograms of cotton, and the cooperation will bring enormous benefits, such as reducing imports and strengthening local production.
