Country has already vaccinated 53.4 percent of the population against covid-19

The Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, revealed that 53.4 percent of the population has already been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country. The list of provinces with the highest vaccination rate is led by the capital, which has 76.8 percent of the eligible population vaccinated.

In the list of provinces, Cuanza Norte also stands out, with 73.4 percent of the population vaccinated, Namibe, with 71.7 percent and Bengo with 64.8 percent.

Luanda once again leads the table in terms of two-dose or single-dose modalities, with coverage of 46.3 percent. Also noteworthy are Namibe (38 percent), Cuanza Norte (34 percent) and Cabinda (34 percent).

Franco Mufinda also made it known that from March 2, 2021 until this Monday, 16,522,261 doses were given in the country, of which 5,560,492 were complete.

Regarding the vaccination of adolescents aged between 12 and 17, the official, quoted by Jornal de Angola, indicated that 2,513,533 doses had already been administered, of which 466,273 were complete and said that in this age group the third dose had already been given to 363 adolescents.

He also indicated that on Monday and Tuesday, the 28th of February and the 1st of March, attendance at vaccination posts is not being carried out because of the national holiday, adding that despite the relief of some measures, which come into force this Tuesday, the use of the mask and hand washing remains important.
