Sonangol and DOF Subsea team up to train CFMA trainers

Sonangol and DOF Subsea recently signed a memorandum of understanding that provides for the training of trainers at the Maritime Training Center of Angola (CFMA), “in light of the protocol signed between the Republic of Angola and the Kingdom of Norway”.

A statement, made available on Sonangol's website, states that the agreement was signed on 3 March by the general directors of the DOF Subsea Angola group and the CFMA, Adilson Paulo and Wiky Tabita, respectively.

The agreement, according to the note, "comprises two phases, the first of which includes training in the areas of project management, sales, marketing and commercial management, leadership and later, in a second phase, courses in design, underwater engineering and offshore operations".

Gaspar Martins, chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of Sonangol, quoted in the note, highlighted "the importance of support and contributions to the implementation of training plans and projects for the oil sector, with an impact on the training of Angolan staff".

Speaking on the occasion, the oil company's CEO also stressed that it is important to prepare staff "for the present and future challenges of the national and international oil industry".

Kikkan Marshal, Norway's ambassador to Angola, highlighted the "distant partnership that exists between Angola and Norway, in various fields", having reinforced his country's commitment to "contribute to the training of Angolan staff".

He added that "partnerships should not be between countries, but also between their companies."

Diamantino Azevedo, Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, was also present at the signing ceremony, as well as members of Sonangol's Board of Directors, senior staff, the signatory companies and the Norwegian embassy in Angola.
