Cited by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA), the official explained that an assessment is being carried out in Iraq to see if the continuity of Sonangol in that country is justified, adding that in Venezuela the scenario is identical.

"In Iraq, at the moment, what we are doing is an assessment much closer to reality to see if it justifies our continuity or if we abandon that locality", he said, adding that in Venezuela "it is more or less on the same terms although situation a little more calm, simply also in economic terms it is an operation that also becomes a little difficult at the moment to conduct it in a calm way".

Sebastião Gaspar Martins also mentioned that the state-owned oil company is present in São Tomé and Príncipe in the part of distribution, but will enter the exploration activity: "São Tomé, we are present mainly in the part of distribution and we are also about to do it from another perspective as a partner exploration of a block that allows us and Total to explore there.

"There we are present, it is also closer to Angola and we can conduct this partnership in a more peaceful way", he added, quoted by RNA.

Sonangol's CEO also took the opportunity to mention that the oil company will continue to focus on the energy transition in the coming years: "We predict that by 2030 we can have around 1000 megawatts in terms of renewable energy production".
